Park Clean-Up Program

The Elizabeth Community along with Hawthorne’s Pizza has officially adopted Independence Park! We will be helping the Parks and Rec staff with Saturday trash pick-up and a monthly maintenance project for an annual term. Click the button above to sign up.

All neighbors are encouraged to sign up and contribute. Kristan Magas is coordinating the park volunteer efforts through volunteerspot.com.

Severe budget cuts have limited Parks and Recreation staff and the maintenance of our park, so  we would like to help them with 2 ongoing projects:

1.  Walk through the park each Saturday afternoon to pick up trash

2.  Help with maintenance or landscaping projects the 2nd Saturday of each month.

The park has been divided into upper and lower (divided by Hawthorne Ave) because of its size, but please sign up for both slots if you can walk the whole park.  The number of volunteers is just a guide.  Picking up the small pieces of trash in the park allows the staff to attend to heavier maintenance issues. This is a large undertaking for our neighborhood but we can do it with help from all.

This could be great community service project for groups or kids!

Please click the button above and sign up for an upcoming Saturday. All that’s required is picking up loose debris in the park. All sign ups need to be directed to the link above.
